Cloud Connect and Everest Group conducted a joint survey to coincide with the Cloud Connect conference in Chicago, September 2012. The survey identifies broad-based cloud adoption patterns, barriers to adoption, and evaluates overall "cloud sentiment" post-adoption.
In this report, we'll consider ten fundamental shifts in IT mindset that IT professionals need to undergo in order to "think like a cloud." Some of these concepts will take years to find their way into mainstream organizations
that still rely on mainframes and traditional bare-metal computing, but eventually, they'll affect everyone. If you take these patterns to heart, you'll be far ahead of the average enterprise in your IT thinking, better equipped to
thrive in a utility computing world.
"Performance" is normally a loaded term. It can include anything from the speed of an application or infrastructure to the SLAs associated with them.
The study will also identify the long-term trends including which layers of the cloud stack will take hold in the next 3-5 years.

We've only begun to scratch the surface of what clouds can do, because cloud computing will forever change how we perceive technology. Clouds change the way we plan enterprise IT. They change how startups launch and grow their offerings. They alter the tools and methods with which developers build applications. And they demand new hardware and software platforms, both for enterprises and for the companies delivering cloud computing services. This report synthesizes the content of these sessions to uncover themes and emerging trends and deliver additional insight beyond the points raised in individual presentations. At the highest level, this event showcased the excitement in the cloud community today and provided a unique window into the immediate future of cloud computing. The purpose of this paper is to explore the view that any business seeking to reap the benefits of cloud environments should not only look at the cost of cloud services but the value they provide.Cloud computing is about the ability to share IT resources more efficiently. Thus, the core objective of IT, and specifically the CIO, should be to understand the value that this technology can bring to their enterprise or government agency.

This whitepaper discusses the IT challenges enterprises face and how the Cloud can help overcome those challenges. It then defines different Cloud configurations and the most appropriate uses of each. Finally, it provides guidance on enterprise decision-making regarding Cloud applications and platforms.Forrester interviewed 40 organizations across a wide range of industries in North America to evaluate how buyers define cloud computing, learn about cloud computing and their process for buying and decision-making around cloud computing. As discussed in this whitepaper, intelligent application mobility enables transactional applications to both scale and move across multiple machines, geographies and clouds in order to fully exploit the agility, elasticity and cost benefits of cloud computing. As a result, traditional systems management disciplines evolved, and there has been much discussion and many publications clarifying the proper role of IT service management. IT and IT services are now described in a different way. This white paper discusses the three most frequently discussed topics about testing in production(security, test data, and potential live customer impact), and describes how the methodology helps to achieve high confidence testing in production.

In this paper, we share our vision of Cloud, with a point of view on Cloud today, and a framework for how we might create the future together with you. Our hope is that this paper inspires new ways of thinking about Cloud in your business. We know that writing it has inspired us to think about ours. The purpose of this paper is to provide a framework of understanding around the use of cloud computing technology, and suggest a process to create and implement your own enterprise cloud strategy for your organization. We will focus on the creation of a cloud computing strategy that defines a sound cloud infrastructure management approach.
